Gaming's equivalent of the Oscars is on right now, you can watch it here;

Celebs are mildly embaressing, but some cool announcements inbetween the awards. Batman Arkham Aslyum 2, a new Star Wars game being introduced by Sam Jackson in a minute, and first footage of the next Halo and Medal of Honors coming later.

I just watched this whole thing live. Won't bother talking about the actual awards as they are meaningless, but some blurb on the announcements if you're curious;

Not much was shown of Batman 2 other than a nice looking CG trailer with the Joker in it. Guess this is still super early. The Hamil's back.

Star Wars game was Force Unleashed II. Homeboy is back from the last game; trailer was all CGI though, with him walking along with Yoda and Vader voices going around in his head. Then he electrified some massive rancor thing. (Rumour has it this game has online modes of some kind BTW).

Crackdown 2 - actual footage shown. It didn't look any better than the last game technically, but the content seemed really fun. Zombies. Crazy fucked up physics stuff. And what appeared to be (at least) 6 player co-op?

(ooh Dragon Age just won for best RPG, yay)

The new Prince of Persia was shown, both some movie footage, and some game stuff. The movie footage looks alright actually. The game footage was - again - all CG though. I'm glad they've going back to the Sands of Time era stuff.

Coolest actual announcement IMO was this new game called "Spec Ops - The Line". It's some kind of crazy over the top post-apocalyptic third person shooter with massive levels and some really amazing deforming sandy terrain. Can't really do it justice here, but you should seek out footages.

Zachory Quinto announced he's doing voice acting in the Star Trek MMO.

A new True Crime sequel. Yawn.

Medal of Honor looked IDENTICAL to Modern Warfare. Right down to gunship sequence.

Apparently "Rockband: Green Day" was announced somewhere in there, but I didn't see it.

And finally Halo: Reach. Not much here really. Some pretty nice graphics for real-time. But it's more Halo and doesn't look all that different than the typical Halo imagery. Best part about this was the lil' glimpse of an Elite at the very end. Missed those guys.

Some interesting stuff there anyway, but not really worth staying up to 3am for...not to mention putting up with the godawful celebrities presenting the damn thing. Best part of the show was simultaneously reading Jeff Green's liveblog TBH laugh.gif

ZzzzZZZzzzz...

p.s. Uncharted 2 won GOTY.
